OmniBSIC Tops Ghana’s Banking Service Rankings as Lenders Face Rising Customer Expectations

OmniBSIC Bank has emerged as Ghana’s highest-rated lender for consumer service quality, cementing its position at the forefront of an increasingly competitive banking sector where customer experience is becoming a decisive competitive advantage.

The bank secured an overall consumer service quality score of 94.4 per cent in the 2025 Ghana Customer Satisfaction Index (GH-CSI), outperforming rivals in a market where digital banking, personalised services and operational efficiency are increasingly shaping customer loyalty.

The annual survey, commissioned by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), ranked UBA second with 93.4 per cent, followed by Access Bank (92.5 per cent), Republic Bank (91.7 per cent), while UMB and Fidelity Bank shared fifth place at 91.6 per cent. Guaranty Trust Bank completed the leading group with 91.1 per cent.

The results reflect the continued evolution of Ghana’s banking industry following sweeping regulatory reforms and years of investment in digital transformation. Yet the report suggests that customer expectations are rising even faster than banks’ improvements in service delivery.

Overall consumer banking service quality slipped marginally to 88.2 per cent in 2025 from 88.9 per cent recorded in both 2023 and 2024, indicating that maintaining high service standards is becoming increasingly challenging as customers demand faster, more seamless and more personalised banking experiences.

The GH-CSI assessed banks across six core dimensions—reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, tangibles and ease of use—providing a broad measure of customer experience within Ghana’s retail banking industry.

While OmniBSIC dominated overall service quality, UBA emerged as the country’s most satisfying bank for customers, posting a customer satisfaction score of 98.7 per cent. OmniBSIC Bank and FirstBank Ghana followed closely with 97.8 per cent each, while Guaranty Trust Bank and Consolidated Bank Ghana recorded 96.1 per cent and 96 per cent, respectively.

Industry-wide customer satisfaction eased slightly to 92 per cent from 93 per cent a year earlier, reinforcing the growing challenge facing banks to convert strong service delivery into lasting customer relationships.

Customer loyalty rankings told a different story. Republic Bank led the sector with a loyalty score of 87.9 per cent, ahead of Access Bank (85.7 per cent), Ecobank Ghana (83.2 per cent), Consolidated Bank Ghana (82.7 per cent) and Guaranty Trust Bank (82.5 per cent).

Meanwhile, customer advocacy strengthened across the industry, with the banking sector’s Net Promoter Score (NPS) improving to 52 per cent in 2025 from 46 per cent the previous year. OmniBSIC once again topped the rankings, recording the highest customer advocacy score of 78 per cent, ahead of Stanbic Bank, UMB, Republic Bank, NIB and Zenith Bank.

The findings underscore a broader shift in Ghana’s banking landscape, where competitive advantage is increasingly determined not only by financial strength and digital capability but also by the ability to build trust, deepen customer engagement and inspire long-term loyalty.

The 2025 GH-CSI surveyed 3,300 retail banking customers and 2,200 business banking customers nationwide between November 2025 and January 2026, measuring service quality, customer satisfaction, loyalty and customers’ willingness to recommend their banks.
