Editorial Policy

1. Our Commitment to Editorial Independence

NewsOrigins is committed to independent journalism free from political, commercial, or corporate influence. Our editorial decisions are made solely by our editorial team and are not directed by advertisers, sponsors, political parties, or any external party. We maintain a strict separation between our newsroom and our business operations. No advertiser, sponsor, or commercial partner has any say in the content we produce, the stories we cover, or the angles we pursue.

Our journalists and editors are required to disclose any personal or financial interests that could create a conflict with their reporting. Staff members may not hold financial interests in companies they cover, and they must recuse themselves from any story where a conflict of interest exists.

2. Accuracy and Sourcing Standards

Accuracy is the foundation of our journalism. Every story published on NewsOrigins must be sourced from verifiable, credible references. We require:

• Multiple sources: Significant claims must be corroborated by at least two independent sources wherever possible.
• Primary sources: We prioritize primary sources — official documents, direct interviews, on-the-record statements — over secondary reporting.
• Attribution: Sources are identified by name whenever it is safe and possible to do so. We use anonymous sources only when the source faces genuine risk and the information cannot be obtained otherwise, and we explain to readers why anonymity was granted.
• Verification: Before publication, our editors verify facts, dates, names, titles, and quotations. We do not publish unverified rumors or speculation presented as fact.

3. Fact-Checking Process

Every article published on NewsOrigins goes through a structured fact-checking process:

• The reporting journalist verifies all factual claims before submitting the article.
• An assigned editor reviews the article for factual accuracy, source credibility, and logical consistency.
• Claims involving statistics, scientific studies, or legal matters receive additional scrutiny and may be reviewed by a specialist editor.
• Articles flagged as fact-check verified carry a visible indicator on the article page, signaling to readers that the content has passed our verification process.

4. Fairness and Balance

We strive to present all relevant sides of a story. When a person or organization that is the subject of a story makes a claim, we give them a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication. We do not selectively quote sources to misrepresent their views, and we do not omit facts that would materially change a reader's understanding of the story.

5. Separation of News and Opinion

News reporting and opinion content are clearly distinguished on NewsOrigins. Opinion pieces are labeled as such and reflect the views of the author, not the editorial board or NewsOrigins as an organization. News articles do not contain the personal opinions of the reporter or editor.

6. Use of User-Generated Content

When we use photos, videos, or information from social media or reader submissions, we verify the authenticity of the content, obtain permission from the creator, and credit the source. We do not present user-generated content as our own reporting without independent verification.

7. Corrections

When we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Our corrections process is detailed in our Corrections Policy. We do not silently edit stories to remove errors; we attach a visible correction note explaining what was changed and why.

8. Sponsored Content and Advertising

All sponsored content, paid placements, and advertisements on NewsOrigins are clearly labeled as such. Sponsored content is produced independently from the newsroom and does not influence editorial coverage. We do not accept sponsored content that is designed to mimic news articles without clear disclosure.

9. Editorial Standards Review
