NDC’s Abdulai Sakra Alhassan (Zionite) Declares Bid for Krowor Constituency Chairmanship

Abdulai Sakra Alhassan, popularly known as Zionite, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Krowor Constituency, promising a new era of unity, grassroots empowerment, accountability and results-oriented leadership.

Announcing his decision in a statement of intent, Zionite said his decision to enter the chairmanship race followed extensive consultations and engagements with party members, delegates, branch executives, elders, youth and other key stakeholders across the constituency.

Running on the theme “A New Vision. New Opportunities. New Leadership,” he said his ambition is driven by a desire to build a stronger, more united and better-organised NDC in Krowor.

“After careful reflection, consultation and engagement with party members, delegates, branch executives, elders, youth and other stakeholders across the Krowor Constituency, I have decided to offer myself for the position of NDC Krowor Constituency Chairman,” he stated.

According to him, his decision is not motivated by personal recognition or the prestige associated with occupying political office, but by a commitment to service and strengthening the party at the grassroots.

“My intention is not to seek office for personal recognition. It is to serve,” he stressed.

Zionite said his years of experience working within and for the NDC at various levels had shaped his understanding of political leadership and reinforced his conviction that effective leadership must ultimately be measured by its impact on people and party structures.

“Political leadership is not about titles. It is about building people, strengthening structures, solving problems and delivering results,” he said.

Grassroots, youth and women at centre of vision

Outlining his vision for the constituency, Zionite pledged to build an NDC in Krowor where every member feels valued and respected, with strong and functional branches serving as the foundation of the party.

He said his administration, if given the mandate, would prioritise accessibility and regular engagement between constituency executives, delegates, branch executives and ordinary party members.

Youth and women would also play a central role in his leadership, with initiatives designed to create opportunities for young party members while strengthening the participation and contribution of women within the constituency.

Zionite further promised to pursue innovative measures to make the constituency financially sustainable while ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of party resources and decision-making.

Another major priority, he said, would be transforming Krowor into an election-ready constituency with party structures that remain active throughout the political cycle rather than becoming operational only when elections approach.

“If given the mandate, I will work to build a constituency where the branch is the foundation, the delegate is respected, the activist is valued, and every member has a voice,” he pledged.

‘I will build bridges, not walls’

Zionite also placed party unity at the heart of his campaign, promising to bridge internal differences and bring together the various generations and groups within the NDC in Krowor.

He said the interests of the party and constituency must always take precedence over individual ambitions, factions and competing interests.

“I will also work to build bridges—not walls,” he said.

“Krowor is bigger than any individual, faction or interest. The NDC is bigger than all of us.”

He pledged to bring together party elders, former and current executives, youth, women, professionals, grassroots activists and ordinary members around the common objective of building a stronger NDC in Krowor.

While acknowledging the challenges associated with political leadership, Zionite said he would not make unrealistic promises to delegates.

“I am not promising miracles. I am promising hard work, accessibility, consultation, accountability and results,” he stated.

“I am offering experience without arrogance, leadership without exclusion, strength without division, and ambition with purpose.”

He consequently appealed to delegates across the Krowor Constituency to support his candidature and give him the mandate to lead the party at the constituency level.

“To the delegates of the Krowor Constituency, I humbly ask for your consideration, your support and ultimately your mandate,” he said.

“Together, we can give Krowor a new vision, new opportunities and new leadership.”

Zionite enters the contest under the campaign message “Built by the Grassroots. Backed by the People. Driven by Results,” with “Krowor First. NDC First. Service First.” serving as another defining slogan of his chairmanship bid.
