The digital revolution is taking shape in Ghana’s capital market as the Central Securities Depository (CSD) Investor Connect App goes live.

At a time when investors need transparency, easy access, and better connectivity more than ever, the Central Securities Depository (CSD) has taken another major step towards digitalizing Ghana’s capital market with the launch of the Investor Connect App.

Over the past few years, investors have called for the digitalization of our various financial institutions, and today, the CSD has responded with the launch of this modern platform.

The app allows investors to access the capital market more easily. With just a few clicks, investors can now take greater control of their investment accounts, and this comes at a time when market participants need it most and one i will describe as timely.

You no longer have to wait for your broker to register a CSD account for you. You can now create your account yourself and notify your broker to approve it at their end, after which you can begin trading.

The Central Securities Depository has been part of Ghana’s financial system for over 20 years, initially operating as a unit under the Bank of Ghana responsible for the debt market.

The unit later metamorphosed into a full institution in 2010 and subsequently became part of the broader capital market structure, with ownership shared between the Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Stock Exchange.

The institution plays an important role in protecting and securing investors’ investments, and the recent launch of the Investor Connect App further strengthens this by giving investors easier access to important information and services.

Through the app, investors can: • Access information on corporate actions, including Annual General Meetings (AGMs), Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs), dividends, and more. • View their transaction history and current holdings. • Create a new CSD account through a simple, step-by-step process. • If you already have a CSD account, you can easily access it through the option provided on the platform.

This is a significant step towards making investing in Ghana more accessible, transparent, and convenient. The capital market has come a long way, from paper-based settlement systems to the current digital environment, where investors no longer have to rely entirely on manual processes or wait several days for basic information and services.

There is still so much effort going into making sure the public is investor-ready and well informed about what is available to them, while also building the right infrastructure to ensure that investments are properly managed and investors’ capital is protected.

The Ghanaian financial market has come a long way, and with this current evolution, it gives us a sense of direction and shows that we are making progress as far as the development of Ghana’s capital market is concerned.
